Bradenton AC Installation and Replacement
Replacing a System You Run Nine Months of the Year
Replacing an air conditioner is the largest mechanical purchase most people make for a house, and it’s decided within a week. If you've been given a number with no breakdown, you can't tell whether the price covers the equipment, the ductwork, or the markup. Richard's Home Services has worked this market since 1980, and we price a replacement line by line.
Financing is available for installations, so job size doesn't set your timeline.
Call (941) 326-4742 or schedule online for AC installation in Bradenton. We'll size the system, put the price in writing, and give you the install date before you commit.

What Installation Day Looks Like in Your House
Most changeouts finish in one day. What you want to know is when the air goes off and when it comes back on.
A standard residential changeout follows this sequence:
- Recovery and removal – We recover the charge, disconnect the old air handler and condenser, and remove them. Cooling stops here, usually mid-morning.
- Pad, lineset, and electrical – The pad is leveled, the lineset is flushed or replaced, and the breaker and disconnect are sized for the new equipment.
- Set and connect – The air handler goes in, the condenser is set, and the joints are brazed and pressure-tested under nitrogen.
- Vacuum and charge – We pull a deep vacuum to remove moisture, then charge to the manufacturer's weight.
- Startup and walkthrough – We read pressures and temperature split, then show you the filter access and the drain line.
Drop cloths go down on the path to the air handler, and the old equipment leaves on our truck that afternoon.
What Drives the Price of a New System
Two houses on the same street can get quotes that differ by thousands, and the equipment is rarely the reason.
These five items drive the price on the estimate you're handed:
- System capacity – Tonnage should come from a load calculation, not from the label on the old unit.
- Ductwork condition – Leaking or undersized ducts waste capacity you paid for, which is why we inspect the runs while quoting.
- Electrical scope – A new system often needs a different breaker or a replaced disconnect, and we hold that trade in the same shop.
- Refrigerant type – New equipment ships with R-454B instead of R-410A, so the indoor and outdoor units change out together.
- Permit and inspection – Manatee County requires a mechanical permit for a changeout, and that fee should be included in the estimate.
Each line appears on the estimate we hand you, which means you can set our number next to another shop's.
Why Sizing Matters More than the Efficiency Rating
An oversized air conditioner cools a room quickly and shuts off before it has removed moisture from the air. A house with too much tonnage feels clammy at 74 degrees while the bill climbs. We size from the house: square footage, window exposure, insulation, and duct layout.
Note that a system oversized fifteen years ago will be oversized again if the replacement matches it ton for ton. Federal minimums here start at 14.3 SEER2.

Frequently Asked Questions About AC Installation
Replacement raises different questions than a repair does. These come up on most estimate visits, and a technician can answer anything the list doesn't cover.
How Long Does a Full System Replacement Take?
Most finish in a single day, with a cooling-off period of roughly four to six hours. Duct repairs, a new circuit, or ordered equipment push the job into a second day.
Can I Replace Only the Outdoor Unit?
Rarely, and it's usually poor value. New condensers run on R-454B, while older systems run on R-410A, so a mixed pair falls outside the manufacturer's warranty.
Is Financing Available on a New System?
Yes. We offer financing on installations and larger repairs, and we go over the terms at the estimate so the monthly figure is part of your decision.
What Warranty Comes with a New Installation?
Equipment carries the manufacturer's warranty, which we register in your name at closeout. Our Pro membership extends repair warranties from 12 to 18 months, and Pro Elite extends them to 24. Exclusions apply.
