Bradenton Heater Repair

Heat You Run a Dozen Nights a Year, and Every One of Them Counts

A front comes through overnight; you set the thermostat to heat for the first time since last winter, and what reaches the vents is room-temperature air. Equipment that sits idle from March through December gives no warning. It waits for the one night you need it.

Richard's Home Services opened in 1980 and has been in the electrical trade ever since, which matters on a heating call. What stopped working is usually a circuit, not a furnace.

Request Bradenton heater repair at (941) 326-4742 or through the online form. Emergencies get a same-day slot, and a cold house on a Sunday is an emergency.

Why the Heat Waits Until January to Quit

Ten months of dormancy is hard on a system. Nothing shows up while the equipment is off, so the failure and the discovery occur on the same night.

These problems build quietly through the months your heat sits unused:

    • Dust on the heat strips – Debris settles on the elements all summer and scorches on the first run, which is why a burning smell in December is common. We pull the panel and check them.
    • A breaker that gave out months ago – Heating often runs on its own circuit, so a failure there goes unnoticed until you call for heat. We hold the electrical trade, so that fault gets traced the same visit.
    • A thermostat never moved off cool since spring – A bad heat call, a dead battery, or a loosened wire all read as a dead system. We test the signal at the board first.

Whatever turns up, you get the failure named and priced before a tool comes out.

What Fails When the Air Comes Out Lukewarm

Most houses here run a heat pump instead of a furnace. The outdoor unit that cooled you in August reverses itself to pull heat inside, then leans on electric strips when it gets too cold for that.

Four components account for most of the heating repairs we write in Bradenton:

    • Electric heat strips – Resistance elements (coils that make heat straight from electricity) burn out one at a time, so the system runs while putting out half the heat.
    • The sequencer – The switch that brings those strips on in stages. When it sticks, you get no backup heat or a power bill that jumps.
    • The reversing valve – The part that flips the system between cooling and heating. If it hangs up, the unit runs all night and cools the house.
    • The blower motor – A slow motor moves too little air across the strips, which trips the limit and shuts the heat off mid-cycle.

Note that these are the same parts you depend on for cooling. Our technician will say which repairs hold the system together and which money belongs in the air conditioning work ahead of you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Heater Repair

These come up on most heating calls. If the list misses anything, ask us by phone, and we’ll send a technician to address it.

Why Does My Heater Smell Like Something Is Burning at First?

Dust that settled on the heat strips over the summer burns off during the first few cycles, so a faint odor for ten minutes is normal. However, a sharp electrical smell, or one that returns the next day, points to a failing element or a wiring problem.

Should I Have the Heat Checked If Nothing Seems Wrong?

Yes, and fall is the right time. A dead strip or a stuck sequencer won't surface until the temperature drops, and by then the schedule is full.

Is a Tripped Breaker an Electrical Problem or a Heating Problem?

Both, which is why it gets bounced between two companies. Heat strips pull heavy current, so a breaker that keeps tripping can mean a failing element or a loose connection at the panel. One technician follows it from panel to air handler.

Does My Membership Cover Heating Repairs?

Repair warranties are 12 months and extend to 18 months with the Pro membership, or to 24 months with Pro Elite. Members also get 10 percent off and preferred scheduling. Exclusions apply, so review the membership agreement.
